Aloha

We were fortunate enough to catch a military hop to Oahu for a few days get-away. We flew on a KC-135 re-fueler. Luckily we were upgraded to first class- which meant we were issued a parachute and jump instructions... Actually, they did go over the "water landing" and the "de-pressurization" instructions pretty carefully. Hmmm... It may not look like much but it's really the only way to travel. On the way over, we blew up an air mattress on the floor and Holly and the kids slept on it for about 7 hours.

At the flea market enjoying some fresh coconut juice. Of course the kids didn't really enjoy it. It's actually pretty much like water with a hint of coconut.

The famous Waikiki with it's typical bathing beauties...

Shrimp trucks on the north side of the island. Not much to look at but the shrimp scampi was off the hinges!

The famous North Shore. Unfortunately, there were no famous North Shore waves that day. A little disappointing.

However, we did run into this sea lion. (the camera is not zoomed)

The recently remodeled temple. I don't know what it looked like before, but it's beautiful now.

Okinawa Marathon 2011

Well, I know we must have hit our 1st anniversary mark in Okinawa. The marathon is held annually in February, and last year, we were living in temporary lodging on the base, and the marathon route went right past our hotel. Well this year, as luck would have it, the route went right past our house. If you compare this first picture with my post from one year ago, you might see some similarities. See if you can spot the addition. Man I hope that suit gets washed in between marathons...

Here comes Santa Clause. Here comes Santa Clause...

Ummm... Swan Princess/Prince?

Make sure you blow this one up so you can see the subtle yet important details, like the mug of beer he's holding in his hand.

Mushroom?
